On Saturday morning our group of nine met on the yacht to get the run down and rules from Colombian Captain Fabian, he seemed like a lovely guy and had hard working Sophie from France to help him out as first mate. We also divvied up the rooms, Ozzie couple Sarah and Lach had one of the doubles while our Swiss friends Michael and Martina with dog Killa (Ki-ya) took the other one. Will and I scored the double bed in the bow with the company of two English girls Marianne and Jessie. They each had a narrow bunk bed on either side of us lucky them. That left Cleo from New York to take the large communal bed in the saloon that she would share with Fabian and Sophie at times. Everyone seemed to get on well so it was set to be a great trip! Then Leanne who used to work for Fabian arrived asking for a ride to Panama and Fabian agreed bringing our total person count to twelve plus the dog; luckily there were three toilets, though not a single shower. Later we also discovered that Fabian had only just purchased this 44 foot monohull yacht called Windsurfer and that this would be his first charter trip in it…. interesting.
